Formula 1200 Drivers’ Association (FTDA) President Harry O’Neal is pleased to announce today that the 2013 Vallis Cup will be presented at the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) event, The Canadian Touring Trophy, on July 27/28, 2013. The event will be held at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). The weekend will also feature the 50th anniversary celebration of Formula Vee.
The Vallis Cup, in honour of Bill Vallis, is awarded annually by the FTDA to the top driver specifically designated race weekend. This year, the winner will determined based on the results of the weekend’s three races. Bill Vallis has been the backbone of Formula Vee and subsequently Formula 1200 for over 40 years. There is no one in the F1200 paddock who has not been helped once or many times by Bill. The Vallis Cup is F1200’s most prestigious award. Only cars conforming to F1200 rules will be eligible to win the Vallis Cup. FTDA members have agreed to assist non members with wheels, tires & manifolds.
FTDA and BARC have also chosen this weekend to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Formula Vee. All FVs from across Canada and the United States are invited to join in the party.
Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs (CASC) Race Director Nick Majors has announced that all valid race licenses will be accepted from racers from outside the Ontario region. Harry O’Neal and BARC Race Director Paul Einarson have agreed to an arrangement where racers from outside the CASC Ontario Region will receive a 50% discount on their entry fee.
Ontario Regional races consist of: Saturday: A practice session, qualifying and a race of approximately 20 minutes, and Sunday: Possibly a hard luck warmup and two races of approximately 20 minutes. Friday is a test day. Over 2 hours of track time is available, but this must be purchased through CTMP.
